It is now old knowledge that my colleague in the art (blogging), Linda Ikeji, unarguably Nigeria’s biggest and most popular blogger had a running battle with superstar musician Wizkid – at least on social media – in recent times.

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>Reason: Her publications about him (Wizkid) on her blog.

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>
It appears ‘Wahala’ proper started when Linda exposed the fact that the Lekki mansion which Wizkid seemingly acquired a few years ago, and, happened to be talk of the town back then is actually not his but a rented one and he is indeed a tenant like any other Lagos tenant. She also made us understand that he has been evicted by the landlord owing to his refusal/inability to renew his expired rent.

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>
Obviously irritated and embarrassed by Linda Ikeji’s expose’, Wizkid went haywire on Instagram, mocking Linda’s love life vis-à-vis her age, made a serious allegation (his director had sex with her and dumped her in a hotel) and even abused Linda’s mum. He didn’t stop at that; he threatened to have her beaten up by his under-aged cousin.

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>
Below lies Wizkid’s Instagram venom on Linda:

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>Consequently, Linda, gingered by the ‘use n dump’ allegation by the star musician, released a statement in her blog in which she narrated her own side of the story and made more ‘shocking’ revelations about Wizkid in a subtle manner 😀

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>Below lies Linda’s statement:

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>So my darling little ‘friend’ Wizkid came on my IG page this morning to blast me for writing yesterday that he was given quit notice at the Lekki home he claimed he bought some years ago, which he actually rented. He threatened to beat me up…called me an ugly old bitch…(I’m ugly? lol) says I don’t have a man (crying over that..) and called my mum a loser…(what a child).

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>Anyway, all that don’t matter, people have said worse to me…what I wanted to address is the part where he said I slept with his director and he left me in a hotel…that one I will definitely want to address because some people actually believe it. That my dear friends, is a lie! Please continue…

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>First and foremost, I’ve never met Wizkid one on one. I’ve only seen him once in real life on stage at a show a few years ago. I’ve never met anybody who is his director. Guess he put that line in his comments to defame me. You that mad that people now know the house is not yours? Lol.

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>Trust me, if I knew someone was Wizkid’s director, I’d rather kill myself than sleep with him or any other entertainer for that matter (except maybe he’s my husband..hehe) because I know how some of these entertainers are…they kiss and tell a lot. You can’t afford to be messing around in their circle. So, no, I have NEVER slept with Wizkid’s director. I live a celibate life..most of the time. (Though, that has to end soon…I’m getting old and missing out on that part of life…lol)

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>I’ve always been an advocate of women respecting their bodies and owning their own. And I feel sex should only happen when you’re in committed relationship (that is if you can’t wait till marriage) and I recommend celibacy for a long as you’re not committed to someone. There’s absolutely no dignity in sleeping around and messing around with different men. It’s ugly and God don’t like ugly. So no, I’m not that woman, and will never be that woman. Nice try, Wizkid!

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>Having said that, I’m sure, you wonder why Wizkid is so mad at me? To be honest, I don’t know either. All I know is that his beef with me started a long time ago but he decided to start bashing me online after I refused a meeting with him. A few months ago, he asked his PR people to contact me, that he wanted to talk to me. For some reason, he thought I didn’t like him and I was hurting his image online. He wanted to see how I could write more positive things about him but I turned down the meeting. Not that I have anything against him, I sincerely don’t! I think he’s an amazing talent and one of the few music stars in Nigeria with a midas touch. So this wasn’t personal. I just didn’t want to meet him. If he lobbies me then it means I won’t be able to write anything about him anymore…and my job is to write…about everything, including entertainers.

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>I am cordial with some of them…many of them I have never met. I try to stay away from gatherings where they are because the more friends you make in the entertainment industry, the less you can write. And that will inadvertently affect your work. The few ones that I call acquaintances, it’s hard to write about them because you feel you’re cool with them and even when you write, they call you to complain. So, the fewer ‘friends’ I have in the entertainment industry, the better my job will be.

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>So Wizkid can bash me all he wants…but I will continue to do my job. Maybe he thinks the more he bashes me, then I will stop writing about him? Won’t work. But meanwhile, if he tells a lie about me, I will address it. LIB plans to be around for a long time…some of these people will come and go! :-).

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>Thanks everyone and Wizkid fans for reading my response.

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>Oh and by the way, did I mention that his Porsche car is also on hire purchase? Oh shit, I just mentioned that! And no, darling, you’re not 25! We know your real age! Continue to have an amazing career while I watch and continue to celebrate you.

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>Kisses

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>In addition, Linda went a step further by reporting Wizkid to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, who then invited them both to his ‘Area F’office at Ikeja. Both parties resolved to settle the case without pressing charges. Afterwards, Owoseni made it clear that the case against Wizkid is now closed but warned that should he threaten anyone else, it will be re-opened.

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>
Linda says Wizkid has apologized and asked for forgiveness also stating that he isn’t a violent dude but was just overtaken by emotions at that moment.

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>
The ‘Starboy’ shared a pix of himself with the police chief bearing the caption: “With the Hon. Commissioner of Lagos Police!!! Police is your friend!

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>
Linda says she turned down taking a snapshot with them both and even someone in Wizkid’s camp, at some point, snapped the trio unauthorized but her camp insisted that they delete it. According to her, “It’s not because I haven’t forgiven him, I just don’t want the extra drama.

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>
It is normal for celebrities to be at loggerheads with the Press as they do their job which is informing/reporting to the people. The genesis of the altercation between both gladiators cannot really be figured out right now but it appears this didn’t start freshly. According to Linda, Wizkid had been pressing for her attention just for good Press as regards him but she been avoiding him. However, what we know is the recent one in which she did praise a member of the American music group, ‘THE GAME’ who did some nice stuffs for his baby mama. Linda, while appreciating him, indirectly made reference to Wizkid labeling him a ‘deadbeat father’ for some reasons…Of course we all know Wizkid has got at least a baby mama too.

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>
People queried whether Linda had proof of the Lekki mansion saga aside the ‘hire purchased’ Porsche Carrera and his age. Well, Linda is quite old in this business and very well knows the implications of false reporting to the public about a celebrity. They would stop at nothing to ‘show her pepper’ legally. History tells us that they (celebrities) love to pounce on such situations just to earn some cool cash in form of damages apart from public apologies which doesn’t really matter to them. Again, Wizkid’s reaction ab initio gives the impression that it appears to be true. Not sure we ever heard him talk about suing Linda which ordinarily, a matured person will do especially if the story is false. Rather he went ballistic, using vulgar words at the lady to the extent of mentioning her mom. That’s so childish if you ask me! What business has Linda’s mom got with Wizkid? Are they peers? Linda and Wizkid are not even peers in the first place much less her mom. He should have faced Linda squarely and not involve her folks. That is utterly irresponsible and disrespectful!!! Besides, knowing that we (bloggers) love to go after and get the ‘big stories’ mostly about celebs private lives, he should close every loophole within his camp and guard his private life jealously to prevent stuffs like this from recurring. Simple!

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>
Dunno what is wrong with these ‘kid musicians’ currently in the limelight. Specifically, the likes of Davido, Olamide and Wizkid. Aside their regular social media shenanigans; they tend to erupt like volcano using words recklessly at people and authorities when matters arise. Remember Olamide’s public spat with this same Linda sometime ago. Also, remember Davido’s case with the immigration authorities, etc. It’s not out of place to recommend counseling on temperament control and public address for these guys.

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>
Admittedly, I must say it is admirable as to how Linda handled the matter from the beginning. She never used vulgar, insulting words nor referred to Wizkid’s folks in any way. She produced a statement (above) explaining the situation to the world and at the same time subtly ‘shelled’ Wizkid via more shocking disclosures, lol, before going on to petition the police as per the threat like any other citizen out there will do. Their actions and reactions vis-à-vis the face-off has shown the gulf in age and maturity between the gladiators. Kudos to Linda 😉

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>
As I have always said in my past write-ups, celebrities are role models to citizens out there; both young and old, and should be mindful of what they say and do. I have heard, severally, kids and adults including reporters and presenters make reference to the ‘Ko ni da fun iya anybody…was a hit back to back to back’ rant by Olamide in his shameful display at the last HEADIES.

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>
They (citizens) apply these gibberish phrases and quotes in their day-to-day communication and in all honesty, it isn’t a good omen.

<

p style=”word-wrap:break-word;max-width:100%;line-height:1.6em;font-size:medium;margin-top:12px;margin-bottom:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Merriweather, serif;width:auto !important;height:auto !important;”>
Lastly, a key lesson, an eye-opener in this Linda/Wizkid squabble is that with respect to the lives of celebs, all that glitter isn’t really gold after all. Living a lie i.e fake life, is second nature to a whole lot of them and it’s prevalent among African celebrities notably Nigeria’s.
